three fabrics, three projects

What is it about the cooler weather approaching that makes me want to be more crafty? Is it because Pinterest is getting all pumpkin crazy on us? Maybe so. I think I've pinned about twenty-something pumpkin recipes already. Better get busy.
Well, I've been working on a few diy projects lately. One that I completed in one sitting, one that will probably take several months (or decades), and one that I keep changing my mind about.

no.1
This is an old vintage sheet I found that wasn't in the best condition to use on a bed, but perfect for cutting up and using it to make the lining of a basket!
I recently made a larger size basket like this one. It was just such a fun and easy project that I decided to make one for my friend, Stephanie, as well. She's getting ready to have a little babe and she said she's needing all kinds of little storage bins like this. Perfect for storing little socks or hair bows. Eeee!

no.2
I'm crocheting a blanket! And stinking to it for real this time. Usually if its any larger that a scarf or a pot holder, I give up after a couple weeks of working on it. But not this time! Even if I'm 80 years old and still working on it, I'ma gonna finish it! Well, we'll see. I do have a lot of hope for this one though. First of all, because I learned this zig-zag stitch (much thanks to Stephanie) and its fun to crochet, plus its a little more interesting to the eye than just a straight line. Second, I had a vision of what I wanted the end result to look like even before I started it. Most times when I start a crocheting project, especially blankets, I start and then randomly add colors, stripes, etc. But having a plan has helped me stick to it and get more accomplished.
I will keep you posted on the progress of this beast. It will probably take a while!

no.3
The undecided project.
I love, love, love this fabric. It's a thick tapestry material. Originally I wanted to cover the shade of the hanging lamp in our bedroom because it was just a boring, solid black. But while starting the covering process, I discovered that stripes are going to be a little more difficult than I thought. The lamp shade has a slightly small diameter on top than on the bottom, which makes the stripes start to go all crooked when its wrapped all the way around. So, plan B. Maybe a pillow or two? Maybe a wall hanging of sorts? I'm in no real hurry, but I am excited for these stripes to be a part of our decor one way or the other!
Are you guys itching to do some fall crafts? I am really excited for this coming season. I know everyone is saying that. But it's the best. For real.

these cute people and giving thanks.

Fall is here!

this is bryant & brookelyn. it was their two year dating anniversary. so sweet. they were so much fun to take pictures of!

This is the season to give thanks, be with family, and eat a lot of yummy food. I love holidays! So, this month I'm going to follow suit after my good friend Lesley over at In Every Season and in each week of November I will list something I am thankful for!

I'm thankful for gorgeous weather and beautiful colors! God is so good. He gives us beautiful gifts in all seasons and I especially love seeing all the leaves change colors. I could just sit and stare at all the bright red and yellow tree top out there all day long. And sometimes I get distracted while driving. I end up looking at the gorgeous leaves when I should be concentrating on the road...oops!
Can't say I'm quite as fond of the freezing cold rain, sleet, snow, and ice that comes afterward, but I do have a major exciting thing happening in the middle of  this coming winter, so on the contrary, I can't wait for it to get here.

That's another thing I'm thankful for, but I will save that for a post next week!

What are you thankful for?
