Oil Pulling: A New Trend?

So today I want to tell you about this (new to me) thing called Oil Pulling. It is not by any means a new thing. Its been around since like, forever. I'll let you read the facts for yourself. But, as soon as I heard about it, I was immediately intrigued.

A lady came through Akin's (the natural foods store where I work) and asked me if I had ever heard of oil pulling. She explained that she had been doing it for about a month and her skin had never been more clear. Any sort of dry patch or any little blemish she had was absolutely gone. She said even spots on her back had healed completely and never returned. Well, being the skin conscientious, girly girl that I am, my ears perked up at the thought of clear skin. I will say though, I'm not a sucker for all those little tips and tricks and weird trial-and-error things. I'm pretty basic. I wash my face at night before going to bed, exfoliate, nothing extreme. But after reading a few articles about this skin cleansing (and teeth cleaning!) method, I am giving it a whirl.

All you need is a bottle of sunflower seed oil and about 20 minutes a day.

Yep that's right. It goes right into your mouth. Swish, swish. For 20 minutes.

Before you think I'm completely crazy, you should read these couple articles about it. There are several health benefits!

Give it a read and see what you think. I'm on day five of this forty day journey. I will keep you posted on how its going for me. And maybe I'm just being overly optimistic, but I think my teeth are whiter already! Staying optimistic for some glowing skin too.

Happy Friday and happy oil pulling!

20 minutes?! Holy cow!
But... you're right, I'm intrigued at the thought of clear skin! :)

Totally gonna do this.

And if we have 20 minutes to do that then I think we should find time to do something. Like soon.

Yes, twenty minutes seems like a long time! I might try this, though.

Clearer skin?! Yes please. I kind of giggled when I read this, it seems like a lot of work. 20 minutes is a huge commitment in the morning. I guess I could do it while fixing my hair.

I read the links you posted too. The second made me go brush my teeth right away! haha

Whoa! I'm definitely intrigued... I hope you'll post an update when you've been doing it for a while, to let us know if it's worthwhile! I'd be so happy if it is :)

Thanks for the info!! I've got to do something to get my skin to clear up. I've tried multiple cleansers but nothing is working - maybe this will.
