baskets and crafts!

Containers have a special place in my heart. Baskets, jars, bowls, whatever the form, they feed my appetite to organize everything. Just ask my husband. He says I organize so well that things disappear.
Well anyway, I know covering baskets is no new phenomenon, but I wanted to show how my rope covered basket turned out!
I got my basket at Thrift Haven for fifty cents. One of my favorite thrifts in Springfield. So cheap!
I grabbed this thick, white rope at FM Stores for only 47 cents per yard! I picked a pretty big basket, so after it was all wrapped, I ended up using about 20 yards.
I found an old pillow case, turned it inside out and put it down in the basket to give it a little lining. Then I began at the top hot gluing the rope onto the basket inch by inch. I managed to not get an in between shot of the process, but it was super simple.

And ta-da! The finished product. Now I can organize the heck out of magazines, blankets, small animals, or whatever is laying around that I don't want to be laying around anymore!
Cherries were a part of the fun. Snacking while crafting helps...
I'm so glad I gave this little basket a face lift! It was a fun and easy craft for less than ten dollars. If you give it a try, let me know. I want to see all the baskets!

i love this idea! i'm kind of kicking myself for not thinking of it myself/sooner. it's really great (and so easy - the kinds of diy projects i'm usually drawn to)

it helps that it's stinkin' adorable too ;)
